Food festivals and food truck festivals in particular are springing from the ground like mushrooms in Amsterdam lately. When food makes way for a market full of coffee, there is no holding back. At least not for me. So accompany me to Amsterdam Coffee Festival, which has been taking place this weekend at beautifully industrial NDSM wharf (by the way, my favourite corner of Amsterdam! Read about it later this month on the blog).
Amsterdam itself is a gem of excellent coffee. Lot Sixty One, Back to Black, white label coffee – they all brew sublime flat whites into my cup every day. Having the best of the beans combined in one place had me caffeinated (emotionally as well) all over.
Next to simply tasting there was a lot of coffee science to discover at the festival. To be honest: I’m happy to get the best out of my Chemex on Sunday mornings but that’s how coffee-hipstery I get. When it comes to the correct angle to drip my boiling water onto the freshly roasted beans, well I have no clue. It was exciting to get into conversation with the one or other professional. This devoted guy above even has a coffee school!
Lots of coffee always leaves me a little dizzy, so I was happy to find this hidden and comfy platform above all happenings. Below it was brilliant bocca and I cast an eye on their camping set composed of an Aeropress, a lovely enamel mug, a coffee table magazine and many more things. I definitely need something like this for this summer in the USA and Canada!
So make sure to come around Amsterdam Coffee Festival should you be in its surroundings. Because I don’t need you to tell me how f*cking good my coffee is but maybe you want to try out on your own.
Happy caffeinated Sunday!
